FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER
Step One: Review the recruitment guide to ensure you meet the qualifications and understand the process.
Step Two: Book your appointment with Firefighter Services of Ontario. Deadline to book your appointment is 11:59PM EST on December 31, 2024. Book all tests in one day. You will receive a confirmation email with details of your appointment once your payment is processed. Testing must be completed by February 2, 2025. Appointments are first come, first serve. A waiting list will be maintained if all timeslots fill up. Email info@fireontario.com to be placed on the waiting list.
Step Three: Complete the Emotional Stability and Resiliency Assessment (ESR) by 4PM EST on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The ESR will not be sent out between December 20, 2024 - January 2, 2025.
Step Four: Bring the documents listed on the application check list to your FSO appointment. The package will be collected upon successful completion of the required tests. Deadline to submit application packages is 11:59PM EST on Feburary 2, 2025. Application packages are to be submitted in-person (on any of the test dates) or by mail. Emailed application packages will not be accepted.
Already completed FSO Testing?
Candidates who successfully completed the core four tests in one day (Clinical, CPAT, Tread Water and Aptitude) on or after February 2, 2024, you would be required to complete:
- Clinical Assessment (if expired, valid for 6 months)
- Medical, Acrophobia, and/or Emotional Stability and Resiliency Assessment (if expired, valid for 1 year)

Open Testing Dates: November 30 - February 2
Practice Session
– register for any assessments (except Emotional Stability and Resiliency) to measure your current status and determine where improvement is needed for future recruitments.
Pre-Qualify Session
– register for all six tests (no Emotional Stability and Resiliency assessment). Candidates who pass all six tests in one day may pre-qualify for recruitments occurring within 6 months of their appointment.
